Josh Kilmurray, L.Ac. - Owner and Licensed Acupuncturist
Josh spent the majority of his childhood growing up in Bozeman and attended Montana State University where he graduated with a degree in philosophy. Josh first became interested in East Asian Medicine after resolving his chronic headaches with acupuncture and Chinese herbs. He felt drawn to the unique way East Asian Medicine viewed the body, and how health was viewed as the body’s ability to adjust its internal environment to the external environment.
Josh studied acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland where he received his doctorate. During his time at NUNM he became passionate about a style of Korean acupuncture called Saam. Saam aims to strengthen the weakest organ system of the body with few needles, and Josh witnessed the power for healing in its simplicity and focus. He was also drawn to Chinese herbal medicine and has since studied Jing Fang (“Classical Formulas”) with Eran Evan, a student of Dr. Huang Huang- one of the preeminent Jing Fang physicians and teachers in China. Jing Fang is one of the oldest systems of Chinese herbalism and is based on the first Chinese herbal formula text, the Shanghan Zabing Lun (“Treatise on Cold Damage and Complex Diseases”). This system of herbalism dates back to Han dynasty China, and focuses on restoring yang, the functional aspect of the body.
Josh is interested in treating everything from chronic pain to emotional dysregulation, digestive issues, and everything in between. He has a particular interest in treating complex chronic illnesses, autoimmune, and auto-inflammatory diseases. He has witnessed how women's symptoms can be dismissed in allopathic medicine and feels drawn to treating illnesses that predominantly affect people with uteruses. He wrote his doctoral capstone on the treatment of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome using the treatment of Chinese herbal medicine. He is also particularly interested in endometriosis, inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis, and post-viral syndromes such as Long COVID, and Oncology support. Josh is a proponent of Health at Every Size (HAES), and believes that health exists on a continuum that varies with time and circumstance for each individual. As a neurodivergent provider, Josh doesn’t view neurodivergence as a pathology that needs to be fixed. He understands how neurodivergence can come with both gifts and challenges, and finds acupuncture and Chinese herbs to be exceptionally useful tools for helping neurodivergent individuals thrive in their environment.
In his free time, Josh enjoys spending time outside with his wife, daughter, and three cats. He loves camping, hiking, biking, meditating, gardening, and playing video games. He has a deep love for Montana and is passionate about serving communities in the place he calls home.

"Josh is an incredibly gifted practitioner. In only a month of treatments I feel a huge shift in my overall health and well-being. He takes the time to really understand and get to know his patients on a holistic level and approaches his treatments from all angles. I feel comfortable and seen, which makes needles less intimidating. He's great for neurodiverse people, too, if you relate to that experience. And best of all, he accepts insurance!"

"Josh is the most gifted acupuncturist I have ever worked with! I recommend him to so many people. He practices a Korean style of acupuncture from which I have had powerful results. Josh is really great at truly "hearing" people and creates a safe space for healing. I wouldn't believe the results I have had, if I hadn't experienced it - far beyond my expectations. He has really good ideas of how to treat even complex or nebulous issues - every time I am blown away by how effective it is. Definitely give Josh a try!"
